Learn how to effectively manage your leak tests

At our innomatec Academy, you will learn everything about the topic of leak testing in industrial applications. Our program consists of both theoretical and practical units and is ideally suited for anyone who is confronted with the topic of leak tightness in the areas of quality assurance, production process planning, and production.

Our Academy provides the opportunity to learn from experts, in small groups of 4-8 people at our facility in Idstein. With space being limited, be sure to register early! You are welcome to bring your sample parts, sketches, test tasks or design drawings to our seminars, which can be helpful for hands-on exercises. Please note that if you have complex components, you must also bring the sealing devices.

We offer the following full-day sessions scheduled with two or three of these seminars on consecutive days.

An introduction to leak testing, covering different methods of leak testing and more

Hands-on session on using air leak test methods

A detailed overview of using Helium or Trace Gas for leak testing

Leak Test Seminars Tailored for Your Company

We are pleased to adjust the content and focus of the seminars to your individual requirements, in consultation with you. The minimum number of participants is 4 people. Whether it is to bring new personnel up to date on the basics of leak testing, the use of a Leak Test Computer or specifically address areas for learning important to your organization, these customized seminars can ensure your team is equipped with the knowledge to set up, manage and optimize your leak tests. Please contact us to discuss your training needs.

Our academy

We offer the following full-day events that include two or three of these seminars on consecutive days.

Basics of Leak Testing – Different methods of leak testing (Day 1)

This seminar provides an excellent overview of what leak testing is, how it works, what’s needed to set up a successful leak test and includes practical examples.

General overview:

  • Pressure measurements and pressure difference measurement
  • General conditions for a leak test with air
  • Explanation of the different measuring methods with air
  • Mass flow method
  • Flow and back pressure test
  • Manual water bath test

Selection of the measuring method

  • Summary of the individual measuring methods and their limits
  • Definition of a leak rate
  • Calculation of a leak rate
  • Factors affecting the selection of the appropriate test procedure

Quality assurance during the leak test

  • Use of test leaks, both fixed and adjustable

Adaptation of components and important framework conditions in the creation of fixture construction

  • Pressure tight in seconds: the Connec system
  • Criteria for fixture construction

Practical Seminar: Hands-on session on using air leak test methods (Day 2)

At this seminar, we combine what was learned in the Basics session, provide additional insight on creating an air leak test with a practical application using our Leak Test Computers in our lab. Participants should either have attended the Basics of Leak Testing seminar or have basic practical knowledge of leak testing.

Seminar content:

  • Discussion of open questions from the first day
  • Interfaces to the Leak Test Computer in practical application
  • Compensation options, environmental influences
  • Conducting measurement capability studies

Practical exercises with Leak Test Computer

  • Determination of the correct test parameters
  • Optimization of the test parameters

Using Trace Gas for Leak Testing (Day 3)

Participants will receive a detailed overview of all aspects in using Helium/trace gas for leak testing:

Trace gas test methods

  • Sniffing with the help of a sniffer probe
  • Accumulation method at atmospheric pressure
  • Integral leak test
  • Recovery of the test gas for cost savings

Choosing the test method

  • Summary of the individual measuring methods and their limits
  • Definition of a leak rate
  • Calculation of a leak rate
  • Influence of the gas concentration on the measurement result
  • How to select the appropriate test procedure

Quality assurance during the leak test

  • Calibration of the basic systems
  • Use of test leaks (fixed and adjustable)

Practical seminar

  • Influence of the parameters on a helium leak test
  • Tests according to the accumulation procedure
  • Tests according to the Integral Procedure
  • Leaks in a water bath
  • Localization of leaks by sniffing method

Please note a minimum of 3 participants is required for this seminar.
